DTES Community Arts Network presents:

MUNCH 4: Creating Inner-City Arts Clusters
Presentation by: Irwin Oostindie
Thursday, March 8, 4-6pm
Alibi Room, 157 Alexander
Complimentary hors d'oeuvres and cash bar.

As the DTES undergoes continually increasing gentrification, the arts are seen as a double-edged sword which help create a liveable community, but provide scenery for soaring property values.

Artists, creative entrepreneurs, and cultural organizations can help create a community which respects the area's constituents and history while involving all residents in its revitalization. In many inner cities, arts clusters and hubs are tools for creative community building that support thriving and sustainable cultural sectors and economic development. Learn how new relationships and collaborations in the DTES can build the sector while supporting the neighbourhood's talents and visions.

Munch is the DTES Community Arts Network's regular series of critical discussion on cultural planning and arts issues that includes some delicious food and great discussion! Sponsored by Fearless, The Alibi Room, and the Community Arts Council of Vancouver.

Presenter: Irwin Oostindie is Executive Director of Gallery Gachet, and has 20 years experience in cultural planning and community work in BC, with festivals, publications, and cultural centres.
